Barnett clutch advice

Postby oliverash » Sun Apr 27, 2014 8:22 pm

I have an R1 engined mini and installed a barnett clutch many years ago but due to it being an ongoing project and the engine not being run, the plates had all stuck together.
This is an engine out job and in my blind haste to reassemble it all I have encountered another problem.
The pressure plate is touching the inside of the clutch cover. Don't remember it being like this before but obviously there is now no movement in the plate because it has no room to move.
The stack is the same height as standard ie with the same number of friction plates.
Anyone else had trouble of this kind?
Read a lot of conflicting info in how these clutches are installed.

Sounds like its not been installed properly

You are going to have to take it out again mate im afraid

Did you line up the lever arm with the arrow on the casing when you put the casing back on?
The best work is done in my garage
