Just found this forum. Bought my second R1 in May. 2005 silver and blue with gold powdercoat wheels. Gents I paid £4250 for this bike with less than 15,000 miles on it. It came with the following, PC3, Yoshi system with y piece cat replacement. Sounds awesome if a little loud. Ohlins rear shock. Ohlins steering damper, Gilles rearsets, Oxford heated grips (guys these things are fantastic best extra ever seriously)RG covers for clutch casing etc. Renthal gold chain and sprockets. RG crash protectors. All the black plastic bits have been replaced with carbon fibre including hugger/chain guard. I guess at todays prices the goodies would be circa £2750 alone.
I have done a France/Spain trip on it with 7 others. 2000 miles in 6 days all at warp speed on fantastic roads particularly in the Pyrenees in Spain.
I absolutely love the R1 . My last bike was also a 2005 R1 which I had to sell when broke 3 years ago. Prior to this had 3 Aprilia Mille 1000RSVR's which were all good bikes but not as fantastically fast accelerating as the R1.
Anyway glad to be part of the forum and will post some pics when I work out how to do it. I am old and not good with computers!!!
2005 R1. Silver/blue Tons of stuff on it

Welcome in chap, good to have you here... You dont need to know too much about computers to be here, just ask if you need any help...

I rode a Mille once and didnt get on with it, but I know a few people who say they are the dogs... but i found it too skinny, and also very cheap feeling compared to the yam, which youve already said is also a lot quicker. I had my R1 first so thats probably why i didnt like it...

Looking forward to seeing some pics with the wheels in gold, we'll talk you through it if you get stuck! lol
This is my bike. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me my bike is useless. Without my bike, I am useless.
